Travel Information You Might Want To Know

Weather

Kuala Lumpur has a tropical climate, with daytime temperatures typically ranging from 28°C to 35°C. Rainfall is frequent throughout the year, with heavier showers during the October–March monsoon season.

Currency

The national currency is the Malaysian Ringgit (RM). Foreign currencies may be exchanged at banks, hotels and authorised money changers, and ATMs are widely available.

Electricity

Kuala Lumpur operates on GMT +8. Electricity supply is 220–240 V, 50 Hz with a three-pin square plug (Type G).

Arrival

Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA1 and KLIA2) lies around 58 km from the city centre. The KL Ekspres high-speed train from KL Sentral in approximately 30 minutes. Airport taxis and ride-hailing services are also available, depending on traffic.

Visa Requirements

A valid passport with at least six months' validity beyond the intended stay is required. Visa requirements depend on nationality; travellers should check with the nearest Malaysian High Commission or Embassy.

Travel Insurance

Registration fees do not include insurance of any kind. It is strongly recommended that all delegates take out their own travel and medical insurance prior to coming to the Conference. The policy should include loss of fees/ deposit through cancellation of your participation in the meeting, or through cancellation of the meeting itself, loss of airfares for any reason, medical expenses, loss or damage to personal property, additional expenses and repatriation should travel arrangements have to be altered. Neither the meeting secretariat nor the organising committee will take any responsibility for any participant failing to insure. Please speak to your travel agent or airline regarding this matter.

Yellow Fever Certificate

A Yellow Fever vaccination certificate is required from all visitors or delegates (Malaysians and foreigners) coming from or going to/ through countries with risk of Yellow Fever transmission (As stated in International Health Regulations under the Prevention and Control of Infectious Disease Act 1988). Yellow fever vaccination is also required for travellers transiting more than 12 hours through the airport of a country with risk of yellow fever transmission. Travellers or delegates without a valid yellow fever vaccination certificate shall be quarantined upon arrival in Malaysia. Malaysia Digital Arrival Card (MDAC)

All foreign participants are required to complete and submit the Malaysia Digital Arrival Card (MDAC) within three (3) days before your arrival in Malaysia through the below link: https://imigresen-online.imi.gov.my/mdac/main Completion of information and submission for the Malaysian Digital Arrival Card (MDAC) is complimentary through the official government link provided.

Transportation

To reach Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur, located in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, you have several transportation options:

KLIA Express
(Recommended)

One of the ways to get to Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) is by taking the KLIA Ekspres high-speed train. The non-stop journey between KL Sentral and KLIA takes only approximately 28 minutes.

The KLIA Express operates at 15-minute intervals during peak hours and 20 minutes during off-peak. This service is available between 5 am and 1 am daily. From KL Sentral, it is a 20-minute taxi ride to the hotel. Taxi coupons are available at any registered counters at the arrival hall of KL Sentral.

Airport Taxi

You can also take a taxi from KLIA to Hilton Kuala Lumpur. Airport taxis are readily available at the airport, and the journey will take around 45 minutes to an hour, depending on traffic conditions. Ensure that the taxi uses the meter or agree on a fare before starting your journey. Surcharge may apply for weekends and after office hours.
